Born in Auschwitz

When Angela was born in Auschwitz weighing 1 kg, she was so malnourished she couldn’t cry. That was her luck. Her Hungarian mother hid her for weeks until liberation. They survived but their story was just beginning. The trauma of the past infused in Angela’s psyche and she would pass it on to her daughter.

Shot in Hungary, Germany, Poland and Canada, Hungarian directors Eszter Cseke and Andras S. Takacs follow the story of these fascinating women as they discover the Holocaust’s effects on three generations of their family. Born in Auschwitz is the untold story of a miracle in the darkest hours of history and the Holocaust’s long shadow on people still haunted by Auschwitz – where it all began.

Due to the success of this trailer, the Born in Auschwitz program was chosen as an official selection at the Sunny Side of the Doc 2016 pitch competition and went on to win the award for Best History Project.
